I am a very strong believer in Thermbond for applications where it makes sense. Their manufacturing quality control is second to no one. Their material because of the binder phosphate system yields products that are on average 40% stronger than most conventional materials in the same classification. We use Thermbond 12-L as an abrasion resistant refractory in FCCU cyclones and hot wall linings. We have numerous experiences with their other products as well, but mostly used in applications where we can save on time for dryout or in special applications such as burner tiles and tube sheets. We also use a lot in repair/patching situations. Being a chemically bonded refractory, it will completely bond to existing refractory’s with zero lamination.
