Conventional refractory sidewalls were worn out and repairs were required. Normally repairs would be a full rebuild of sidewalls requiring 4 weeks of downtime. Customer could not afford this down time. Solution was to leave existing conventional floor alone and tear outside wall. Overlay a veneer of Thermbond. This lining would allow the customer to avoid the capital expenditure of a new lining. Thermbond would also protect against corundum growth and eliminate the need for aggressive cleaning fluxes, and provide longer lining life that required less maintenance. |
